Resumo: The paper discusses the importance of playing in Early Childhood Education, as well as the role of the educator in this important phase of the child's life. The act of playing and a form of communication through which a child develops fully, in physical, social, cultural, affective, emotional or cognitive aspects. Through play the child can develop the requirements, such as attention, memory, imitation, imagination. More than that, she can develop areas of personality such as affectivity, motor skills, intelligence, sociability and creativity. The preschool teacher in context has the role of play guard. As difficulties and current in the schools of Infantile Education with regard to play refer especially to the lack of material, physical structure and qualified teacher. Therefore, it is emphasized the importance of playing in this age group and at the same time, a need for means that allow a better way of using the games. KEY WORDS: Education. Teacher. Play.
