Emotions are part of the human being and are important attributions in the subjects
lives. In contemporary Western culture, however, there is an understanding that the
experience of emotions is unhealthy, especially of emotions considered by common
sense to be "negative." This paper proposes a historical review of the concept of
emotions and their experience in society and from this, the psychological analysis of
the book Poliana by Eleonor H. Poter is built. We seek to reflect on sadness in
contemporary times, discussing the representations surrounding this emotion and how such emotion is experienced by the central character of the book. This arttical is a qualitative, descriptive, documentary and bibliographical research. Analysing the book Poliana, it was possible to realize that the character experiences the emotions
understood as positive with greater degree of acceptance than the emotions
considered negative. Through introjections about the “HAPPY GAME”, the main
character seeks to observe the positivity that ends up neglecting the perception and
communication of emotions understood as negative. Wareness is achieved when the
character allows her to experience her sadness. |
