A proposta deste trabalho é apresentar um estudo de patologias ocasionadas na rodovia MG/116 altura do Km 514 na cidade de Caratinga Minas Gerais, tendo como objetivo analisar e classificar as patologias e diagnosticar o estado atual da superfície de pavimentação da rodovia em análise. Por ser uma rodovia com alta relevância para a região por causa de intenso tráfego de automóveis e caminhões visando o comércio e passeio entre as proximidades, foi escolhido para ser o objeto de estudo deste trabalho. Foram abordados na revisão bibliográfica todos os tipos de patologias que podem ocorrer em um pavimento e suas formas de análise dentro do procedimento determinado pelas normas DNIT 005/2003 e DNIT 006/2003. Foi feito um levantamento em campo no trecho demarcado pelo próprio DNIT com um total de seis estações totalizando 120 metros, com isso foi realizado um quantitativo e qualitativo das patologias encontradas e catalogalas. Após obter os dados, foi feito o cálculo de frequência absoluta e com ele e o fator de ponderação de cada patologia determinado pela norma, foi encontrado o valor do índice de gravidade individual (IGI), com o resultado do (IGI) de cada patologia é feito um somatório de todos e foi obtido o índice de gravidade global (IGG) do pavimento no valor de 206,67, este valor é muito superior ao valor de parâmetro que define como péssimo o desempenho da rodovia que é de 160. Os resultados encontrados demonstram que o trecho em análise esta em péssimo estado de conservação, necessitando de uma manutenção.
