A água é responsável pela hidratação do cimento, promovendo trabalhabilidade em estado fresco e resistência após a cura, possuindo dessa forma grande importância para a produção de concreto. Um dos maiores problemas no ramo da engenharia civil no que diz respeito ao concreto, são as patologias, que podem surgir por diversos fatores, dentre eles, a água. Sua qualidade e quantidade devem ser controladas. Entretanto, nem sempre é possível a utilização desse solvente com os parâmetros exigidos em norma, sendo retirado das fontes existentes como rios e córregos, podendo afetar as propriedades do concreto. Nesse contexto, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a viabilidade do uso da água do Rio Caratinga para a produção de concreto, sendo retiradas amostras em dois pontos para a fabricação, comparando os mesmos com concreto fabricado com água potável, que se encontra nos parâmetros estabelecidos por norma, e observar se há alteração ou não da resistência à compressão dos corpos de prova produzidos com as amostras coletadas. Os procedimentos consistem na coleta das amostras, com posteriormente envio para laboratório para determinação dos teores das substâncias presentes, confecção de corpos de prova, com posterior rompimento dos mesmos após 28 dias para determinação da resistência à compressão. Determinando a partir da análise dos dados fornecidos pelo laboratório e dos ensaios a viabilidade do uso da água do Rio Caratinga para a confecção de concreto.
