MANEJO ODONTOLÓGICO DE PACIENTES PORTADORES DE ALTERAÇÕES CARDIOVASCULARES

Abstract

Dental care for patients with cardiovascular diseases requires special attention, due to the risks associated with their medical condition. Therefore, this study aims to review the scientific literature about current evidence and guidelines in dental care for patients with heart disease. For this, an electronic search was carried out in the Pubmed, LILACS and Scielo databases, using the search terms: “Cardiovascular Diseases”, “Dental Care” and “Medication Therapy Management”. Articles that addressed the main cardiovascular changes and the drug therapy proposed to this group were selected. Due to the high prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and the needs that each one of them has, it is essential that the dentist (DC) obtain knowledge in order to be able to apply it in their clinical conduct, reducing the incidence of complications for the patient. Through professional training, it is possible to offer safe and effective dental care, reducing morbidity and mortality rates and, simultaneously, improving the quality of life of these patients.
