dc.description	Os procedimentos estéticos na Odontologia tem ganhado cada vez mais espaço. Dentre estes procedimentos, a correção do sorriso gengival tem sido uma alternativa recorrente, procurada pelos pacientes com o objetivo de trazer ao sorriso harmonia e estética, melhorando a qualidade de vida e o bem-estar dos indivíduos que se queixam da exposição excessiva da gengiva. Diante disso, inúmeros tratamentos tem sido propostos para a correção gengival, desde harmonizações faciais com o uso de toxina botulínica até cirurgias periodontais, a qual daremos maior enfoque, como gengivoplastia, gengivectomia, osteotomia, osteoplastia, uso da piezocirurgia, cirurgia de reposicionamento labial e cirurgias ortognáticas. As causas do sorriso gengival são diversas, logo antes de propor um tratamento, é necessário averiguar minuciosamente a etiologia do excesso gengival, para que assim seja realizado um excelente diagnóstico, e posteriormente a escolha do melhor tratamento apresentado ao paciente.	pt_BR
dc.description.abstract	Aesthetic procedures in Dentistry have been gaining more and more space. Among these procedures, gingival smile correction has been a recurrent alternative, sought by patients with the aim of bringing harmony and esthetics to the smile, improving the quality of life and well-being of individuals who complain about excessive gingival exposure. Therefore, numerous treatments have been proposed for gingival correction, from facial harmonization with the use of botulinum toxin to periodontal surgery, which we will focus on, such as gingivoplasty, gingivectomy, osteotomy, osteoplasty, piezoelectric surgery, lip repositioning surgery and surgeries orthognathic. The causes of gingival smile are diverse, right before proposing a treatment, it is necessary to thoroughly investigate the etiology of gingival excess, so that an excellent diagnosis can be made, and subsequently, the choice of the best treatment presented to the patient.	pt_BR
