e no desamparo no sujeito.
estrutura sociocultural pós-moderna. |

The present work is based on the theme of the relationship between postmodern
individualism and contemporary anxiety. Therefore, it aims at a methodological look at how individualizing beliefs incur in the possibility of generating anxiety and even
influencing central beliefs, intermediate beliefs and the very automatic anxiogenic
thoughts, based on the cognitive-behavioral theory. It is evident, in the cognitive maps
proposed here, that both beliefs and individualistic behaviors, based on the
fundamentals of living without depending on the other, to the point of non-recognition
of social support, can end up generating distorted and unrealistic beliefs. Therefore,
such cognitive models or sketches focus on individual capacities, which are sometimes
unrealistic and on the helplessness of the subject. So, from the following relationships:
belief, situation, thought, emotion and behavior, cognitive sketches indicate that social
support, social capital, compassion, collective values, truly recognized by the
individual, incur as potentiating factors of mental health. However, the absence of such
factors can also generate losses, making it evident that such individualizing beliefs, at
some point, get out of control, becoming unattainable goals and, consequently, selfsabotaging. Therefore, the theoretical article methodologically sought to review the
literature in order to produce the necessary and sufficient contribution to describe the
relationship between individualistic beliefs, social helplessness and anxiety in the
postmodern sociocultural structure. |
