Abstract:
Autism Spectrum Disorder - ASD presents itself as an atypical neurodevelopment
characterized by communication difficulties, repetitive behaviors and restricted social
behaviors. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to present a literary review in order
to analyze and describe the consequences of the incidence of the diagnosis of this
disorder in adulthood, and in the treatment through the report of someone who exposed
his story pointing to the difficulties experienced in his daily life and his interaction with
their families and health professionals. To this end, a literary review on the topic of late
diagnosis of ASD will be used. It is noticed that in face of the exposition of the theme
a possibility for debate both for health professionals, as well as for family members and
people also involved in this process in view of the exposition of the facts experienced
by those who told their story, enabling the debate of autism spectrum disorder in
adulthood.

O Transtorno do Espectro Autista – TEA apresenta-se como um
neurodesenvolvimento atípico caracterizado por dificuldades de comunicação,
comportamentos repetitivos e comportamentos sociais restritos. Portanto, objetiva-se
apresentar uma revisão literária de modo a analisar e descrever as consequências da
incidência do diagnóstico deste transtorno na fase adulta, e no tratamento através do
relato de alguém que expôs sua história apontando para as dificuldades vivenciadas
em seu cotidiano e sua interação com seus familiares e com os profissionais da saúde.
Para tanto, utilizar-se-á uma revisão literária sobre o tema do diagnóstico tardio do
TEA. Nota-se diante da exposição do tema uma possibilidade ao debate tanto para os
profissionais da saúde, quanto para familiares e pessoas também envolvidas neste
processo diante da exposição dos fatos vivenciados por quem contou sua história
viabilizando o debate do transtorno do espectro do autismo na adultez.
