O USO DO CANABIDIOL EM PACIENTES COM DOENÇA DE PARKINSON

Abstract

This scientific article aims to discuss the use of cannabidiol in patients with Parkinson's disease, seeking to determine whether this substance would be effective and safe in the treatment of the mentioned condition. Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative and progressive condition characterized by tremors, muscle stiffness, bradykinesia, postural instability, reduced facial expression, sleep disturbances, among other symptoms. It causes a progressive loss of neurons in various parts of the brain, especially in the substantia nigra, whose neurons function to produce dopamine, a neurotransmitter responsible for transmitting information from the brain to other parts of the body. In the search for new treatments, the scientific community is always attentive to new substances, such as cannabidiol, a compound derived from Cannabis sativa, commonly known as 'marijuana,' which has sparked interest due to its potential efficacy in relieving symptoms of neurodegenerative diseases. This study is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach, supported by a literature review.
