ACESSO À JUSTIÇA E A PANDEMIA DO COVID-19: uma análise da atuação da Defensoria Pública de Minas Gerais frente ao cenário de mudanças

Abstract

This article aims to describe the actions of the Public Defender's Office of the State of Minas Gerais, regarding access to justice for vulnerable people, during the pandemic scenario of COVID-19. The research problem is associated with the demonstration of the intervention posture of the Public Defender's Office of the State of Minas Gerais in order to face the restrictions of attendance to the public resulting from the pandemic. The objective of this stance is to guarantee broad access to justice to the vulnerable and needy in times of social isolation, which hinders the possibility of face-to-face service. In the first chapter, a conceptual analysis of the principle of access to justice is made. In the second chapter, an overview is made of how the Public Defender's Office makes the principle of access to justice effective, and the conflicts faced by the DPMG in making this principle effective when faced with the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. In the final chapter, an analysis is made of the actions of the Minas Gerais Public Defender Office during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. For the construction of this work, a bibliographical and documental research was carried out, passing through doctrinaire legal positions and correlated legislation. The results achieved clarify that despite the physical limitations that arose during the fight against the virus, the DPMG adapted to this reality in order to offer access to justice even in the face of the measures to confront COVID-19.
