Abstract:
This research seeks to discuss about depression, based on a case study with
nurses in the ICU sector of a public hospital in the city of Serra-ES, with the
objective of presenting the factors that have contributed to the increase. of cases
among health professionals and specifically among nursing professionals. This
concern is justified because depression is considered one of the biggest mental
health problems in the world and is present in the daily life of society, regardless of
social class, also increasingly affecting the set of professionals with high level of
stress as is the case of health, impacting not only on the individual's quality of life,
but also on their social and professional aspects. The research had a case study
by conducting interviews with ten nurses from a public hospital, where it was
possible to identify the factors that have contributed to the increase of depression
among these professionals and pointed means that can contribute to this
reduction. In conclusion, the data obtained may not only contribute to the reduction
of the problem, but also in the quality of life of these professionals, avoiding the
removal of their duties, and consequently valuing the role of this professional within
the context of public health in Brazil.

Busca-se por meio desta pesquisa discorrer sobre a depressão, tendo por base
um estudo de caso junto aos enfermeiros do setor de CTI de um hospital público
no município de SerraES, com o objetivo de apresentar os fatores que têm
colaborado para o aumento de casos entre os profissionais de saúde e
especificamente entre os de enfermagem. Esta preocupação se justifica, pois a
depressão é considerada um dos maiores problemas de saúde mental a nível
mundial e se faz presente no cotidiano da sociedade, independentemente de
classe social, afetando também de forma crescente o conjunto de profissionais
com nível de estresse elevado como é o caso da área de saúde, impactando não
somente na qualidade de vida do indivíduo, mas também nos seus aspectos
sociais e profissionais. A pesquisa contou com um estudo de caso por meio da
realização de entrevistas junto a dez enfermeiros de um hospital público, onde foi
possível identificar os fatores que têm colaborado para o aumento da depressão
entres esses profissionais e meios apontados que podem contribuir para esta
redução. Conclui-se portando queos dados obtidos podem não somente colaborar
para a diminuição do problema, mas também na qualidade de vida desses
profissionais, evitando o afastamento de suas funções, e consequentemente
valorizando o papel desse profissional dentro do contexto da saúde pública no
Brasil.
