A IMPORTÂNCIA DO PRÉ-NATAL ODONTOLÓGICO NA ATENÇÃO PRIMÁRIA DE SAÚDE: LEVANTAMENTO DE DADOS PELO PROJETO DE EXTENSÃO “SORRIR POR DOIS” NAS UNIDADES BÁSICAS DE SAÚDE DE TEÓFILO OTONI (MG)

Abstract

Dental prenatal care is part of the Unified Health System (SUS) and involves the dental surgeon monitoring the pregnant woman, in order to propose educational actions and aggregate information. According to the Ministry of Health, pregnant women must be included in priority groups in the Family Health Strategy (ESF), with dental treatment being an integral part of primary care and contributing to indicator 3, according to Previne Brasil. The objective of the article is to discuss and explain data about the importance of dental prenatal care in Primary Health Care in the urban area of the city of Teófilo Otoni, MG, aiming to increase the adherence of pregnant women to dental prenatal care and encourage its implementation in PHC . To carry out this scientific article, we used bibliographical research and data from the “Sorrir por Dois” Extension Project. Data were collected through questionnaires from July to August 2023. Based on the analyses, it is concluded that the lack of adherence to dental prenatal care is linked to the pregnant woman's little or no knowledge, as well as the lack of guidance by professionals who work in the ESF's. Therefore, the role of the dentist in this environment is fundamental for the establishment of health promotion and prevention.
