Abstract:
Electronic cigarettes appeared on the market in China in 2003 by a pharmacist Hon Lik, and have since become popular as a "strategy" for smoking cessation. As a work proposal, this aims to carry out a literature review in search of articles that deliver results on the influence of the device on periodontal health. In the course of this review, articles were found that showed an increase in the depth level of periodontal probing, a low level of tissue regeneration due to poor irrigation, and bone loss. We conclude that users of this device in the long term are predisposed to the risk of developing periodontal diseases and have a low success rate in both surgical and non-surgical treatment, compared to non-smokers.
