Abstract:
Syphilis results from an infection caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum,
transmitted through sexual intercourse, blood transfusions and vertical transmission,
when the mother, diagnosed with syphilis, does not receive adequate treatment or does
not follow the indicated therapeutic protocol. The objective of this research was to
evaluate the temporal dynamics of syphilis cases in João Monlevade, Minas Gerais,
from 2015 to 2022. Secondary data collection techniques were used, electronically,
through the national database of the National Health System. Information on Notifiable
Diseases (SINAN). Submission to the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) was not
necessary. Among the population surveyed by SINAN, the number of acquired syphilis
cases, according to sex, was more significant in males, in addition, the highest number
was among the young population, between 20 and 29 years old. Despite being a
disease that can be treated with viable, effective and verified methods, it still persists
with high incidence rates, representing a specific challenge for public health systems.

temporal dos casos de sífilis em João Monlevade, Minas Gerais, no período de 2015 a

número foi entre a população jovem, entre 20 a 29 anos, con relação a cor/raça entre a
