Abstract

Tourism is an outstanding activity in modern society, which has stood out over the past few years for being considered one of the most significant cultural, social and economic phenomena of all times. Catas Altas is a city in Minas Gerais that has a little more than 5,000 inhabitants, and has a historic center rich in colonial architectural ensembles. Located at the foot of the Serra do Caraça, the city is one of the most important tourist destinations in the state of Minas Gerais, however the city is still unable to maintain itself with income from tourism. The present work had qualitative researches, seeking information and historical data to support the proposal of adaptation of the Dr. Moreira mansion, with the objective that it exercises hotel activity, contributing to the great touristic potential of the city, allowing that, in the near future, the tourism will be the main local economic source.
