Abstract

The increase in longevity in Brazil means that there is a demand for gated communities that offers homes with the necessary infrastructure for the comfort and well-being of senior citizens. This work analyses the feasibility of a differentiated residential of interest to the elderly who prefer to live in green areas. However, they want to enjoy the advantage offered in the city: drinking water, electricity, telephone and internet access, health prevention programs and activities, as well as privacy and security. The residential will be non-profit and built as a free lease. Each unit will be unique for easy identification. The project will offer “semi-finished” residences: an “envelope” of perimeter structures on the walls and facades that invite the future resident to intervene to give them “soul” and personality. Garden, vegetable garden and orchard will be the transition link between the built environment and the natural. The environment will be used in a respectful way: the compost will be transformed into fertilizer by composting, the sanitary sewage will be treated before being sent to the stream, the riparian forest will consist of an orchard.
