A ATUAÇÃO DA PSICOLOGIA NOS SERVIÇOS DE HIV/AIDS DISPONIBILIZADOS PELO SUS

Abstract

Health Psychology aims to improve quality mental care and disease prophylaxis, maintaining a focus on promoting health and quality of life in an integral way. The objective of this study is to verify the importance of the psychologist's role in the care for people living with HIV/aids, aiming to understand the context and social history of the disease, public policies related to HIV and how to promote quality of life after HIV/aids, considering all the stigma that is socially carried by the disease. The psychologist is a professional of great importance in the intervention for adherence to antiretroviral treatment, which brings a better living condition for people living with HIV, avoiding opportunistic diseases and bringing the possibility of the person becoming undetectable. In this way, the study aims to understand public policies regarding HIV/aids in the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) and Brazilian HIV Testing and Counseling Center (CTA) and understand the stigma regarding HIV and how it impacts the treatment and self-esteem of the person, observing how the psychologist can intervene in the process of resuming well-being by counseling. The methodology was bibliographic review research based on articles published on the topic and interviews with professionals in this field as part of methodology, aiming to address how psychologists can work in the area.
