PRIVATIZAÇÃO DO SISTEMA PENITENCIÁRIO BRASILEIRO

Abstract

The present paper aims to answer the following question: What benefits the privatization of the prisons to solve the Brazilian prison system? The article makes a comparison between the current penitentiary reality and existing privatized penitentiaries. In addition to the detainees' accommodation, the vast majority of prisons in the country lack food improvements, job opportunities for detainees, several factors that, together, make it possible for the prisoner to be re-socialized and return to social life. In this tunnel, a new mode of shared management emerges, in which the State joins private initiative so that, together, they can provide a more dignified and constructive environment for the prison population. The purpose of punishment is resocialization, and through the privatization of prisons, with structural and organizational improvements, whether it is the regretted reintegration into society with new opportunities, reducing crime and social well-being.
